Tribute To Vintage Elegant Black Women

Tribute To Vintage Elegant Black Women
Simply lovely but I wish they were smilingI think that BW have to look to the past to learn what femininity is! These BW actually lived through slavery, poverty, and blatant and violent racism (e.g., depending on the country it could be wars, apartheid, or Jim Crow). Yet instead of choosing to protest through their clothing (that could interfere with their personal happiness) they decided to dress the way other women dressed and the way their men liked. Do not insult your ancestors by saying their way of coping with oppression was wrong when they were WAY more oppressed than you are. If you are as oppressed as you say you are then why aren't you acting like them? Being feminine was always"a Black thing" as I stated in my previous post, Remember when being feminine and girly was a Black thing. Lena Horne vintage EBW iconIf BW are in such a bad place then maybe we should do what BW did in the past to survive and that is act like ladies, respect ourselves, and carry ourselves in a manner that is beyond reproach. I think that the ideal EBW takes the good things from the past and present and also discards the bad things from the past and present because everything new isn't great and everything old isn't bad. By the way some people talk everything old is tainted and should be discarded as though everything modern is superior! Show them we are ladies and deserve to be treated like ladies. Today I'm going to post images of my favorite vintage EBW icons, vintage photos, and modern women in vintage styles.
