What Is Leadership

Many people may have dreams and hopes of becoming a good leader some day but not everyone understands or possesses the ideal qualities that are required in order to conduct the perfect leadership. Many of these qualities are somewhat obvious but there are some that most people don't think about or take the time to understand it properly.

Not many people understand what effective leadership is, but there are many people in history who have possessed these qualities about have manipulated a revolution in our world. Most people don't think about the concepts of being a good leader. They think that all that is required is intellect and power. Even though at times these are required, there are so many different values and qualities needed to provide good leadership.

* Loyalty
* A kind heart
* Strength
* Hope
* A good listener
* An understanding mind
* Being able to communicate well
* Adaptability
* Persistence
* Assertiveness

* Be able to motivate yourself and others
* Enthusiastic
* Trustworthy
* Responsible

This list could just keep on going for ever. As you can see, it is not always as easy as you think to be a good leader. Some things you can learn; and some things you have in you. Some people are born with these qualities and some people aren't. You cannot manipulate yourself into possessing these qualities as something like that would never be able to help and lead others.

Before leading others towards their destiny, a good leader must be able to lead themselves towards their path. This means that they must be able to listen to themselves and be able to listen to their gut and be wise enough to make decisions between logic, persuasion and instinct. If they are able to do this, then they are truly ready to start leading others.

Leadership is not about power but about the wisdom of the mind and how that can affect a lot. True leadership can make the impossible happen. Many people in history have accomplished this and are now known to mankind as heroes. We remember and honour many of these heroes including:

* Eleanor Roosevelt
* Winston Churchill
* Martin Luther King Jr.
* Pope John Paul II
* Franklin D. Roosevelt

Many others followed these in the hope that they could make a change. Many succeeded; many failed.
